What started as a deep admiration for the British breed soon became a lifelong passion for preserving its beauty, gentle temperament, and exceptional character. The intelligence, calm nature, and affectionate personalities of these remarkable cats inspired us to dedicate ourselves to responsible breeding.

As our experience grew, so did our vision. We searched beyond the United States for bloodlines that reflected the qualities we admired most. Over the years, we have carefully selected breeding cats from respected international catteries, always with one goal in mind—to continue improving the quality of every new generation.

At Pedigree USA, every planned litter is the result of careful thought. We consider health, temperament, pedigree, structure, and overall breed quality before making any breeding decision. We believe exceptional kittens are created through knowledge, patience, and responsible breeding—not by chance.

British Longhair vs. British Chinchilla Longhair: What’s the Real Difference?

Many wonderful people who contact us ask this exact question, and it’s a great one! The names sound very similar, so it’s easy to get confused. The good news is that both are absolutely lovely cats — but there is one important difference that makes each unique.

1. They Belong to the Same Breed

Both the British Longhair and the British Chinchilla Longhair are the same breed: British Longhair (often abbreviated as BLH in registries like TICA).

They share the same history, body type, and personality.
They were developed from British Shorthair cats crossed with long-haired breeds.
They have the same sweet, calm, affectionate, and family-friendly temperament.

The only real difference is the coat color and pattern.

When Can My British Longhair Kitten Go Home? (3 Months Explained)

At Pedigree USA, our kittens typically go to their forever homes around 12 weeks (2.5 – 3 months) of age.

By this time they have received their first vaccines, been dewormed one time, started eating solid food well, and are fully socialized with people and other cats.

We do not spay or neuter before they leave us. Most veterinarians prefer to wait until 6–8 months of age for these surgeries, as the kitten is bigger and stronger. We always recommend discussing the best timing with your own vet.

Microchip, Spay/Neuter & Health Timeline – What New Owners Should Know

Many people ask us about microchipping and neutering timing. Here’s our honest approach:

Microchip: No, We do not offer microchip kittens shortly before they go home (around 12 weeks). The Microchip should be done later.
Spay / Neuter: We do not perform this surgery before sending kittens home. Most responsible vets recommend waiting until 6–8 months. We provide full documentation so your vet knows the kitten’s vaccination and health history.

We believe it’s better for the kitten to have this done by your local vet when they are stronger and you can be there for aftercare.
